Adam A. Its creation
Allah Ta'ala says,
Meaning: Verily I created man from fragrant dry clay and before that I created jinn from hot fire. Remember, when your Lord said to the angels, I am creating man from the dry clay of fragrant weeping. Then when I formed him properly and infused him with spirit from Me, the angels prostrated themselves before him. Then the angels all prostrated together; But except for Iblis, he refused to join the group of prostraters. (Surah Hijr, verses 26-31)
Allah Ta'ala created Hazrat Adam 'alayhis salam from clay. Before his leaven was ready, Allah Ta'ala told the angels that He would create a creature from the soil, which would be called "Bashar" (man) and that creature would have the honor of representing Allah on earth.
In this context, Allama Bagavi. Narrated, Allah Ta'ala first created the heavens and the earth, the angels and the jinn. And commanded the angels to live in the heavens and the jinn in the earth. Then the jinns lived on earth for a long time.
Then, instead of worshiping Allah, hatred and violence spread among them. They started fighting and killing each other.
Then Allah Ta'ala sent a group of angels to the earth to free the earth from those rioters. Those angels were also called jinn according to many. They were the maintainers of Paradise. Their name was Jin. Their leader was Iblis. He was their leader and wisest of all.
By the order of Allah Ta'ala, those angels came to the earth and drove the jinn to the mountains and forests and started living on earth themselves. Allah made the worship of Allah light on them.
Allah Ta'ala gave Iblis the responsibility of ruling the earth and the heavens near it and maintaining Paradise. So he used to worship Allah sometimes on earth, sometimes in heaven and sometimes in heaven.
Due to this high status, Iblis became arrogant. He said to himself, the reason why Allah Ta'ala gave me this kingdom and dignity is that I am the leader and teacher of all the angels.
Before creating the first human Adam 'alayhis salam, Allah Ta'ala addressed the angels and said,
That is, I am creating representatives on earth.
Allama Bagavi Rah. It can be understood from its description that Iblis was an angel. Allah Ta'ala says,
Meaning: All the angels prostrated together except Iblis.
This is also understood from the Istisna (اِسْتِثْنَا) of this verse. Because, if they do not join the group, why istisna (separation) from them?
However, Hazrat Hasan Basri. Narrated on the basis of Sahih traditions, Iblis was originally from the jinn. He became a great believer in the conversation of the angels and he used to live together with the angels. That is why Hazrat Adam 'alayhis salam was ordered to prostrate himself. Apart from this, the opinion of Hazrat Hasan Basri is proved to be strong with another verse of the Holy Quran and various authentic hadiths.
When Allah Ta'ala ordered Iblis and the angels to prostrate to Adam 'alayhis salam, Iblis refused to do so out of arrogance.
